The NYSATA Board of Trustees has approved the development of a Professional Development Consulting Program in response to the new SED mandates requiring 175 hours of staff development over 5 years. School districts will be seeking consultants and programs to provide sessions for teachers, and it is our goal to provide meaningful presentations for art educators. Our initiative consists of a list of presenters who have developed expertise in specific areas of visual art education. These areas include , but are not limited to: Curriculum Development, Visual Arts Standards, Safety in the Art Room, Pedagogy, Art Advocacy, the NYSATA Portfolio Project, Art Assessment, Technology, Special Needs in the Classroom, NYSATA Advocacy Initiatives, Art Materials and Processes, Local Resources, and Retirement for Art Teachers.
Those that may request consultants from NYSATA are: Parent/Teacher Organizations, Administrators, Art Teachers, State Art Organizations, Arts Councils, Museums, and BOCES.
NYSATA consultants are available to speak at meetings in their regions, at workshops, at conferences, at faculty meetings, at BOCES, at Teacher Centers, on Superintendent's Day, and a variety of other venues.
