Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP)

The Visual Arts IAAP is a graduation pathway option in which students demonstrate, through a collection of creative works, growth over time that meets the appropriate High School Performance Indicators in the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts. Students pursuing either a Regents Diploma or a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation may utilize the IAAP as their pathway assessment.

2025 IAAP

Here is how it works!

  • Please check with your administrator about whether or not your district hasregistered with the state to provide the Visual Arts IAAP. If they haven't, NYSED applications will open on February 1, 2026 and the registration deadline is June 2026.
  • Find all materials needed on the NYSATA IAAP Page.
  • 8th and/or 9th grade Art Teachers start the journey with students and parents with the help of Guidance Counselors and Administrators.
  • Students fill out an intent to complete form.
  • Students complete the slideshow template at the end of year 1, and year 2 and year 3 before final evaluation.
  • Students and Teachers review and adjust marks on the rubric template each year to make sure student is on track to earn a PASS for required standards and categories.
  • Once the 3 course sequence, portfolio and rubric are completed, notify the Guidance Counselors and Administrators for graduation credit.
